“Vengeance, deep-brooding o'er the slain,
Had locked the source of softer woe,
And burning pride and high disdain
Forbade the rising tear to flow"

Human Disguise:
Like most of the other patrons of the Midnight Cabaret, Marquise human form is all but a ruse to fool unwitting humans. While in this form her body is long and lean, her figure tending to be lanky and small boned. She has the type of figure which would have been envied only ten years earlier when small breasts and a skinny frame were popular. Her skin is lightly tanned, although this is odd since it has been many centuries since she has seen daylight, in either of her forms. Her face is strongly proportioned, with high cheek bones and cheeks that almost seem gaunt in the right lighting. Her jaw line is hard and a little wider than most other women, though this could be due to the sleekness of her facial bone structure.
Her eyes a wide and almond shaped a dark caramel hue. However, when she is either angered or when relaxed in the Cabaret, they become more animalistic; turning a bright fiery orange and red, with black reptilian slits for pupils and the whites of her eyes darkening into black. Her hair colour is that of a deep earthen brown colour, but holds highlights of caramel and copper towards the ends. She usually has it styled in pin curls that bring out the deeper tones of her hair. She is still true to her origins in that she enjoys "treasure", or jewellery and gold. She will always be seen with enormous amounts of jewellery on.
Not all of her natural form’s qualities can be hidden in this human guise. It is for this reason that she stays within the Cabaret and does not venture out in the daylight. One of these is her eyes, as mentioned above. The second is the fact that she has two miniature horns growing from behind her ears. They are echoes of the ones she carries in her true form. They are almost the texture and color of obsidian and are equally as sharp. She is usually able to hide them in the curls of her hair, but less so than when styles has been more restricting with hair, where they could be completely concealed in an up do. Also, her ears are pointed, much like an elf’s would be, but hers are sharper and more fierce looking. Her nails are blackened and sharp, shaped much more like claws than actual nails, but most just believe this to be makeup and nail polish. Her teeth appear normal until one glimpses her canines, which are elongated much like a vampire and she tends to be mistaken for one... that is until she shows off her forked tongue.
Real Form:
Her true form has not been seen for many centuries, it is a little too conspicuous nowadays. At full height she would stand at 28 feet, a rather large size to hide in the increasingly modern world. Medieval artisans were mostly right about the form of her type of dragon in that she has four limbs as well as two wings that spread from her back. Her scales coat her body in a hue the colour of the midnight sky. In the light, her scales seem to gleam and give off a lacquered appearance. The horns that appear in her human form are larger and adorn her head, along with a few more spines that crown her head and a ridge of spikes that start at the base of her skull.personality
The truth is Marquise hates humans, plain and simple. If it weren’t for them, her species would not have been killed off or driven into hiding. It is her hatred of humans that is the most prominent feature of her personality, but it doesn’t completely define her. On the surface, she is calm and completely approachable. Her beauty tends to attract the constant flow of males, human and dark beings alike. As a barmaid, she is able to loosen up the morals of some of the more reluctant potential souls in the Cabaret; it is more of a deal that she has struck with the demons. She can attract potential souls, but she cannot take their souls; that isn’t her job.
She plays shy sometimes, flirting (albeit with a great deal of self control) with humans as she serves their drinks. She’ll even tell them a story or two, talk about their troubles, anything that makes them easier to tempt, err.... more comfortable. However, her spiteful side can sometimes show through, lashing out sometimes unintentionally at demons or human patrons who anger her. On the subject of demons, however, she holds a different attitude. She sees them as an equal in her quest for vengence, but she may be a little blinded by the fact that she might just be another tool to them. She has the ability to breathe fire, but it is a blue flame that she produces. She can also make it appear with the flick of her fingers and hold it in the palm of her hand.family & history
Father: Ulrich the Wise
Mother: Daesmondia the Restless
Siblings: eight in total, all dead
Others: She has struck a deal with a demon centuries ago out of her hatred of humans, she would get revenge on them, while demons would acquire souls. Looking for a demon though ^^
Also, I’d expect she’d be on good terms with the Bartender if we get one!
Marquise was hatched in a time very different from now, around 3,000 years ago. No human alive remembers such a time of course, they do not even remember the species their ancestors obliterated from the face of the earth, dismissing them as myth. Since the day she had hatched, she was always aware of her surroundings, of her own consciousness, very much unlike human babies. Her clan inhabited a region of what would come to be known as Great Britain, but it was centuries before any human would be recognized as a threat, let alone have been able to kill one of their kind.
As soon as she was able to, she assumed a human shape, mingling with the rapidly expanding human population. Of course at that time it had been to learn their ways, for mere curiosity mostly, and to perhaps get her hands on the jewellery they crafted. She travelled to different continents over the centuries, learning of different cultures: Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans... She followed the progression of this interesting species from its beginnings. But this all changed when they discovered her kind. They thought of them as monsters, beasts that devoured their people. Of course this wasn’t true, well not for the most part. Her kind was wise, they sought to learn and teach their knowledge. But the brutish humans could not see this and one by one they slaughtered them. By the time Marquise returned home, over half of her clan had been murdered, her father being one of the last left. He died trying to protect her when human raiders discovered their home. From that moment she swore revenge on the human race.
That’s when one of the dark beings came to her. A demon is what the humans called them, and at first she had been wary of the creature. But its subtle tongue and promises of vengeance soon persuaded her to think otherwise of this creature and his offer. She would be invited to serve under them, enticing souls toward damnation, while they would provide her with protection. It took her little time to think it over before she agreed. After all, she had nothing left of this life, her home was destroyed and her people slaughtered. Nearly a millennium had passed and she watched as the humans waged their petty wars, killing each other off. Her skills of enticing souls grew with the years and she found alcohol to be most effective in any situation. She even chose a human name, although she had mistaken the title as a name, she liked the way it sounded so it stuck.
When the new world was discovered, Marquise wasted no time in boarding a vessel to scout this new continent for potential souls her demon masters could harvest. She travelled a lot, her money usually acquired through pick pocketing or pawning off some of her older jewellery and items. She acquired a considerable fortune for this and used it to travel across the expanding continent, eventually making her way into New York around the turn of the 20th century. She sought out the ones with whom she had made her ancient pact. It wasn’t long before the Cabaret was opened some 30 years later, mere days to her. She helped where needed, but refused the position of entertainer; others could deal with the intimacies humans seemed to crave. She was better suited for other work, such as bar tending, where she could wear a mask of human emotion and serve them alcohol to loosen their morals.the roleplayer

ROLEPLAY SAMPLE:A lone, shadowy figure of a woman stood outside the entrance to the Midnight Cabaret. She stood with her shoulder against the building’s wall, a cigarette in one hand. It was unusually dark in the streets tonight. That did not worry her though, she liked the dark. She took another drag of her cigarette, the glowing tip illuminating her face for a few moments. Her reptilian eyes glimmered with the same fiery shades as her cigarette, they looked fierce and primal, and yet she was deep in thought.
The occasional human would walk past the entrance to the Cabaret and her eyes would follow them, spiting them from the darkness of the stairwell. How could they claim themselves to be so great? That the human race was superior to all others? They could hardly remember the last century, and more importantly they could not remember a time when they would have been just another part of the food chain. She sneered in the darkness, anyone close enough would have been able to see the glimmer of fangs. The sounds of laugher and the clinking of glasses brought her back to the land of the living.
She would always have the Cabaret. It was her sanctuary and her agent of revenge. She would make them all pay for what their ancestors had done. She dropped the stub of the cigarette and ground it into the cold cement with her high heel. With a last look out at the street, she disappeared back into the Cabaret, blending in with the laughter and intoxicating scent of sin.
