...shadows decorate every corner, and line the faces of passer-bys. The young, the old, the clean, and the dirty. Eyes, all in a full range of ill-intent, uncertainty, compassion, innocence and madness dot a sea of people in the city of love. There have recently been a large handful of missing persons reports, leading the authorities to be especially watchful of criminal activity. General Jean Maxililien Lamarque, a hero among Paris's less fortunate, is dead. One of the city's largest attractions, the Opéra Garnier, has recently been wrought with reports of paranormal activity, which, though not insofar having been investigated by the Sûreté, is causing a stir among the patrons, dancers, singers, and staff. The citizens of Paris brush these matters under their hats however. There are far more important things to think about. Such as the summer Masque, the dazzling performances of a certain soprano, not to mention the mouth-watering 'world-famous' meat pies from a modest little restaurant in the English District. Why worry about getting murdered when you can get a shave and a free pie? Each Parisian, be they English or French, is unique. Each has a vice, a dream, a motive... Who will you be? The timid chorus girl, who enjoys tea and cakes on Sundays...The gloomy politician, who watches Paris go by from his penthouse window...The pragmatic barkeep who sees his patrons drink their cares away through hazy green bottles...Or another mysterious face who appears in the crowd among hundreds, with secret desires and talents yet to be extricated?
